by Diana Gilliotte, OSMA Alliance President 2007-2008
I have been splitting my time between Kettering and Zanesville, Ohio as my husband, Ben, has been working there the last 3 1/2 years. My parents live there and this job has provided us with the opportunity to spend more wonderful time with them. My 92-year-old mother-in-law lives in Worthington and we also enjoy spending a great deal of time with her. I am thankful to be available for Doctor appointments and other health and life issues with these precious family members.
We are currently planning our daughter, Penny’s, wedding in Oregon for June 2024. We love traveling with family and friends, attending numerous family events, and supporting our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.
The leadership training from the OSMA Alliance and AMA Alliance taught me organizational skills and many opportunities to meet learned people and speak to groups.
One of the highlights of my year was traveling to each active county to meet other Alliance members and discuss issues within their organization and area. Working on health and legislative issues such as smoking, stroke, concussion, heart disease, drug addiction and more has broadened my knowledge and helped me realize how much more work there is to do.
It has been a pleasure to have continued friendships with Alliance members from my earliest years in the late 1980’s to the present.
I especially enjoyed our pajama parties at Fall Focus and Annual Meeting. Charlie Phillips and Margaret Rodeghero from Montgomery County hosted these parties for many years. The camaraderie and joy of those evenings makes me thankful for each of you.
